New children's and cultural centre in Høje-Taastrup

LYTT Architecture has designed the landscape in a competition about a new children's and cultural centre in Høje Taastrup. The new children's and cultural centre will generate energy and strengthen the cultural life in the area.

Together with contractor C. C. Contractor, Kjaer & Ricther, Christensen & Co. Architects and AFRY, LYTT won the competition to design a new children's and cultural centre in Høje-Tasstrup. The new children's and cultural centre will house a day care nursery, a school and cultural activities and create an informal frame for cultural unfoldment, reflection, development and debate – a frame that will generate energy and strengthen the cultural life in the area.

The actual outdoor spaces vary in expression and program between urban creative movement landscapes and soft green play and learning landscapes. All outdoor spaces are built with principles for zoning that meet different degrees of activity and participation, which caters to different children and play styles. Among the various outdoor spaces are the neighbourhood’s unifying urban life street ‘Kulturstrøget’ (‘The Cultural Street’), the outdoor areas with terraces and the outdoor spaces for learning as well as four larger movement squares.
