Lisbjerg Park
In the heart of Lisbjerg, a park is emerging where nature and culture are interwoven. Here, the landscape becomes a living timeline with stories, paths, and meeting places. The vision is to create the municipality’s collective outdoor experience and communication space: a park where people and nature are brought together in a landscape filled with history, stories and powerful nature experiences.
We have developed proposal for the new urban park in Lisbjerg — a scenic area bordering the town center — where the park’s design is based on two overarching initiatives. The first is the establishment of four distinctive landscape spaces, where existing landscape characteristics are highlighted and the quality of nature is strengthened. The four themes, The Forest Top, The Street, The Forest Plantation, and The Meadow, each contain unique potential for nature and experiences. The second initiative is the Timeline, which is the park’s main path and a unifying element. The 1 km long experiential axis communicates the area’s history and creates coherence between the park’s different spaces.
Nature, water and biodiversity
The park incorporates rainwater management and biodiversity as part of the experience. Water is both a recreational and identity-defining element. A reopened stream, along with expanded rainwater basins, supports the dynamics of nature. The green and blue structures help form the framework for meeting places, playgrounds, activities, walking routes, and quiet zones for reflection.

The spatial variations in the park are inspired by principles of healing gardens with a focus on experiential characteristics such as species richness, openness, cultural history, safety, and wildness. A hierarchical path system ensures easy access from Lisbjerg and connects the park with the existing recreational structures. The Timeline is the park’s primary connection and communication axis, from which secondary paths branch out into the landscape.
