Land Use Masterplan for Hvide Sande Harbour

The Land Use Masterplan for Hvide Sande Harbour was developed in 2022 based on Hvide Sande Harbour Strategy 2025. The strategy outlines the harbour’s five core business areas and establishes a clear direction for its development in the years ahead. The Land Use Masterplan serves as the physical and strategic foundation for this development: it defines the overall framework for the harbour’s future spatial organization and describes how a balanced allocation of land can strengthen operations, identity, and sustainable growth.

The plan is founded on several guiding values that will shape the harbour’s future development. These include ensuring a robust and long-term use of harbour areas, supporting coexistence between industry, the local community, and tourism, and creating clear conditions for new investments and functions.

Historically, development at Hvide Sande Harbour has been characterized by an ad hoc approach, where needs and challenges were addressed as they arose. However, with a broad business portfolio and increasing complexity in harbour activities, there is now a need for a more holistic and long-term strategy.

The Land Use Masterplan acts as a management tool that helps maintain strategic objectives even as conditions and requirements evolve. They are also the locations where future investments and transformations are expected to occur first.

As such, the plan provides a shared foundation for both daily operations and future development projects, which together will strengthen Hvide Sande Harbour’s position as a modern, flexible, and sustainably operated commercial and tourism harbour.
